Help! What Do I Wear to Pole Dancing Class?

As if women don't battle the "what to wear" monster enough....now there is pole class.

No sweat! Power BAR Women's Fitness has you covered (literally)🤗

....

Let's first uncover the reason why attire in pole class is so important. It is not the ordinary local gym where movement is predictable and most equipment is used with your hands and feet. Pole dancing requires the use of the biggest organ on your body - Skin!

Yes, your skin can literally be the difference between a good pole day and a bad pole day. Your legs and arms initially will help you as a new pole dancer to  have more grip and support as you focus on learning pole tricks.

Due to this, shorts and short sleeved shirts work best as attire for pole dancing. It will give you the freedom of dance movement and the connection of skin to dance pole that you'll need to focus on learning in the pole dance lesson, verses adjusting your clothing.

What happens if you wear yoga pants, leggings, or sweats to pole class?

Well....nothing.

The only change is that your clothing will slide on the dance pole and be a very noticeable interruption of skin contact, requiring you to obtain most to all of your grip through your hands and overall physical strength to execute the movements.

Now lets talk HIGH HEELS 👠

To where High Heels to Dance Class or NOT?

Power BAR Women's Fitness suggests if you haven't been an avid heels walker, leave them off for now.

When adding heels to your attire for pole dancing the pros and cons (depending on how you look at it) are;

Heels add weight to your feet, making you work even harder in some of the bodyweight lifting movements

Heels require you to stabilize yourself throughout every motion to avoid tumbling over

Heels can create extra grip on the pole while executing the pole tricks

Heels add a ton of confidence when you believe you can dance in them, but not so much if you are fearful.

Heels make noise during your dance routines, so they can be used as an attention getter or a major musical distraction

.....

The verdict? Slowely learn how to add high heels into your dance routines, so that you dont get overwhelmed or feel defeated by pole dancing as a Beginner.

Pole dancing is a process, that take time to learn. Some Pole Dance "Greats" make it look super easy.... but don't be misled - there was a process they followed.

It starts with the fundamentals such as dressing in a way that allows you to be successful and graduating into different levels of complexity - even in outfits.

Pole Dancing, among other things also requires you DRESS FOR SUCCESS! Don't underestimate what you chose to wear to pole class and when in doubt bring multiple changes of clothing :)
